A Desert-Inspired Mid-Century Townhome, Culver City

Designed as a warm, relaxed interpretation of California mid-century style, this Culver City townhome blends clean-lined furnishings withdesert-inspired color, natural materials, and softer, more approachable textures. The goal was to create a home that felt collected and personal without becoming overly styled, while giving the clients a strong foundation they could continue building upon over time.

A palette of olive green, terracotta, rust, camel, warm walnut, and creamy neutrals brings depth and cohesion throughout the space. Mid-century silhouettes are balanced by tactile materials, including performance velvet, woven textiles, leather, and warm woods, creating a look that feels grounded, comfortable, and distinctly Californian.

In the living room, a deep green sectional serves as the visual anchor, connecting the interior to the abundance of natural light and greenery just beyond the windows. Layered textiles, sculptural accent pieces, and Southwestern-inspired details add warmth and personality, while a client-curated gallery wall brings a more personal, lived-in quality to the room.

Working within the realities of a rental and a considered budget, the design focused on investing in versatile foundational pieces while leaving space for the home to evolve. Rather than filling every corner at once, the project established a cohesive visual language through color, material, and form—giving the clients the flexibility to continue layering art, objects, and collected pieces as they grow into the space.
